Specialized fuse comp 29 review. In addition to the expert 29 build we tested they also make a comp 29 that retails for 1 675 and comes with the same m4 alloy frame and a relatively comparable build to the expert model with notable downgrades including a sram sx eagle drivetrain and a rockshox recon rl fork. Specialized fuse expert 29 review. The specialized fuse comp 29 is a super capable and maneuverable little bike that stretches the usual definitions of what a hardtail can be and can do and does so at a reasonable price. The specialized fuse 6fattie 29 is offered in 6 different build options ranging from 950 all the way up to 6 500 for the s works version.
Our 2018 test bike is the 1 600 fuse comp which is the highest of 3 build options that feature aluminum frames. The entry level fuse 27 5 comes with 27 5in wheels and 2 8in tyres while the comp and expert models roll on 29in hoops shod with meaty 2 6in tyres. The slender seat stays have been manipulated to offer a more compliant ride and combined with the curved seat tube that allows a little flex the fuse frame is designed for increased comfort in or out of the saddle. It s got a very respectable spec list for a shop bought bike but dedicated distance sluggers will find it too heavy and those after techy thrills will find the geometry a bit tame.
The 2020 specialized fuse comp is a new school hardtail ripper with a 130mm travel fork 2 6in tyres and modern trail oriented geometry. Beneath the raw finish the m4 aluminium frame is simply brimming with tech.
